The Story Behind Burtonfields Hall

Every brick of Burtonfields Hall whispers the tale of its rich history, dating back to its inception in 1837. Designed by architect Antony Salivin in the Italianate villa style for Charles Darley, the house has evolved through the hands of different owners, each leaving their mark.

William Mountain Harrison, who acquired the estate in 1896, enlisted York architect W H Brierly to enhance the property. The grand billiard room, adorned with parquet floors, wood paneling, and a vaulted ceiling, stands as a testament to the lavish parties and gatherings it has hosted over the years.

Reginald Harrison Bush, the next custodian, further expanded and altered the house, adding extensions to formal rooms, bay windows, and a second floor. A local community enthusiast, Reginald embedded himself in the parish council and cricket club, hosting memorable village fetes and lavish parties.

In 2019, a restoration and renovation project commenced, aiming to breathe new life into the property while preserving its beautiful features. Burtonfields Hall, with its ornate cornices and high-level craftsmanship, invites guests to step back in time while enjoying the comforts of the present. Section 3: Frequently
